The City of Greater Geelong is proposing to construct a new public toilet facility within the Kevin Kirby Reserve, Herne Hill.

The toilet is being installed as part of the City's ongoing efforts to provide a quality network of safe, universally-accessible, clean and environmentally-responsible public toilets for the community.

The new facility will feature:
- new contemporary design
- robust and vandal resistant construction
- stainless steel sanitary fixtures including toilet pans, accessible railings, basins, shelves and baby change table
- unisex accessible facilities.

Key findings

The local residents and community were invited to share their thoughts via our Have Your Say page.

The engagement results revealed that 87 per cent of people were in favor of the proposal, and13 percent had concerns about the new toilet.

Majority of the responses supported the proposed toilet design and location, believing it will enhance the park and improve the area near the playground.

The construction of the new toilet was supported by The Friends of Kevin Kirby Reserve.

The next steps will be to engage a contractor with works expected to be completed by June 2020.
