Background
Across the nation we are facing serious challenges in waste
and recycling. We need to address these
head on.
To help fight Geelong's War on Waste, the City of Greater
Geelong is developing the Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy this year. The
strategy will set our long-term waste management directions and strategic
actions to reduce waste and increase resource recovery.
Before we begin designing the strategy, we would like to
hear your thoughts on two discussion topics: Geelong's War on Waste and Reducing Our Food Waste.
Discussion papers and a draft background
report have been provided to compliment the online survey. We recommend you
read these documents before completing the survey. Your feedback will help shape the
draft Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy.
Key findings
There were four key themes that came out of the community and stakeholder engagement process:
1. support for food organics collection service
2. avoid creating waste
3. recover more resources
4. educate the community.
The key findings and engagement results have informed our vision, goals and strategic actions in the draft Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy 2020-30.
