Naming of Reserve at 111-117 Unity Drive, Mount Duneed

This engagement is complete

Date: Monday, 18 June 2018 to Monday, 16 July 2018

We are currently considering naming the reserve at 111-117 Unity Drive, Mount Duneed.

The traditional owners were consulted and a proposal to rename the park to 'Bunjil's Nest' to recognise 'Bunjil' was submitted for consideration. Bunjil is a creator spirit of the Wadawurrung who is depicted as a wedge-tailed eagle and a large eagle sculpture at the entry to the park symbolises Bunjil watching over the lands. The City acknowledges Wadawurrung Traditional Owners of this land and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People who are part of the Greater Geelong community today.

In accordance with the State Government's Naming Rules for Places in Victoria 2016, the City is seeking feedback from the community regarding this proposal. You can submit a proposal by providing details below. Submissions close Monday 16th July 2018.
