Women in Community Life Awards

The Women in Community Life Awards recognise and celebrate the extraordinary contributions of women across the Geelong region. 

They showcase local achievements that contribute to a thriving community and help women and girls realise their dreams and ideas.

The awards are an initiative of the City’s Women in Community Life Advisory Committee and are supported by the following organisations.

Award categories

The Overall winner – Women in Community Life Award will be awarded by the selection panel. Proudly supported by Women’s Health and Wellbeing Barwon South West.

The winner of each category will be announced at the International Women’s Day event to be held on Friday 6 March 2020. Further details on the event will be available in early 2020.

How to nominate

To nominate, please complete the nomination form.

Selection criteria for each general category is different. If you wish to nominate an exceptional woman for more than one category, you will need to complete a separate form for each.

Nominations have been extended to Thursday 20 February 2020 at 11:00pm.

No late nominations will be accepted.

Award eligibility requirements

Please note that nominees can be either a woman, or a community organisation/group led by a woman. The nominee must be either living, working or operating in the Greater Geelong region.

Previous winners are not eligible for nomination for the category in which they were awarded. To find out whether your nominee has been a previous winner, please visit our previous winners page.

How winners are chosen

Award winners will be selected by a panel made up of Women in Community Life Advisory Committee members, as well as award sponsors. When assessing the nominations, the selection panel will look for qualities that reflect:

  • leadership within the award category
  • clever and creative projects and outcomes
  • community impact
  • challenging the status quo.

Each nominee will be contacted to confirm their willingness to progress to the selection stage.
