At the City we believe that gender equality is good for everybody.
What are we doing now?
As a defined entity we are required to achieve measurable progress in
gender equality across our workforce and in our community.
Workforce
The City was required to complete a complex workplace
gender audit in 2021, which included an employee survey - the Gender+ Survey in
order to gather quantitative and qualitative data. This information was used to
develop our Gender Equality Action Plan. According to the Act we will need to
develop an action plan every four years, using insights gathered from our
workplace audit.
Our results were used for the latest insights report including local governments and other defined entities.
Community
The City is required to conduct gender impact assessments on programs,
policies and services with a direct and significant impact on the public. The Commission for Gender Equality in the Public Sector has further information and interesting case studies you can have a look at.
Progress
In February 2024 we submitted our first Progress Report to the Commission for Gender Equality in the public sector. The progress report outlines our progress with regards to the seven gender equality indicators, the actions within our Gender Equality Action Plan and completion of Gender+ Impact Assessments.
