Water conservation and management

We are responsible for managing the water used in providing and maintaining public assets like golf courses, sporting grounds, public open spaces, gardens and trees.

Water is a valuable resource and we need to manage it responsibly.

We manage water usage at:

to ensure that our community assets are 'fit for use' through responsible water management.

Interesting fact

An average irrigation cycle for a football oval in summer uses approximately 130,000 litres of water.

Over summer we may need to irrigate the oval three times a week – that's 390,000 litres of water per week for each of the 85 ovals we are regularly irrigating.
