Thousands of people in Australia volunteer for numerous reasons including an interest in the organisation they volunteer with, to give something back to the community in which they live, or for social benefits. Whatever your reason to volunteer, the City of Greater Geelong has a variety of options that may be of interest to you.

National Wool Museum
Are you interested in people and stories? The timeless Australian story of wool combined with exciting contemporary exhibitions invites tourists and locals alike to celebrate Geelong’s rich agricultural and industrial past and to engage with Geelong’s future. As a volunteer at the National Wool Museum, get to know a new side of your City and help to bring our stories to life.
The National Quilt Register (NQR) brings together craft artisans, private collectors, museums, galleries and historical societies by documenting heritage quilts from across Australia. The NQR will be re-launched online in February 2017. To ensure its success we are seeking volunteer applications from suitably skilled individuals to assist in its ongoing operation and promotion.
Applications for the first round of volunteers and training will open mid December 2016 and close 30 January 2017. Training of the selected NQR volunteer team will begin February 2017.
L2P provides access to mentors / supervising drivers for young learner drivers who face barriers to driver learning, such as no access to a vehicle or a supervising driver. If you enjoy spending time with young people, are tolerant and have driving experience, this volunteer role may be your forte.
Tourism Greater Geelong & The Bellarine
If you are interested in people, are passionate about the area in which you live and would love to pass that experience on to visitors to our region, volunteering with Tourism Greater Geelong & The Bellarine (TGG & TB) could be for you.
The Potato Shed is a multi-arts facility on the Bellarine Peninsula, available for community hire and features facilities for performances, rehearsals, classes, events and conferences. Meals on Wheels Service
Meals on Wheels volunteers deliver meals and provide vital social contact for clients across Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula.
Community Child Health
The Maternal and Child Health service makes referrals for essential nursery equipment such as prams, cots and clothing to Geelong Mums: a voluntary organisation for families experiencing significant financial hardship. Geelong Mums only accepts referrals from professionals and access to collect goods is restricted to specific times.
