Barwon Heads Structure Plan Update

Council is currently updating the Barwon Heads Structure Plan to make sure it meets the community’s changing needs around demographics, development pressures, housing diversity, residential character, the rural and natural environment, climate change, flooding, transport and infrastructure.

As the name ‘update’ implies we’re not creating a new Structure Plan but updating the existing one, which was developed in 2010.

Council adopted the updated Structure Plan at its meeting on 22 August 2017. The agenda and minutes for the meeting is now available - please visit the Council Meetings page. A full Structure Plan is available to download below.

Following on from the adoption of the Structure Plan Council will need to undertake a planning scheme amendment. This will incorporate the Structure Plan and planning controls into the Greater Geelong Planning Scheme and give it statutory weight for development applications. The community will have the opportunity to make a formal submission when the Structure Plan is exhibited later in 2017.

Structure Plan Engagement

In preparing the Barwon Heads Structure Plan Council has undertaken extensive community consultation. For more information and a summary of the feedback please visit the Barwon Heads Structure Plan Engagement page.
