Ocean Grove Town Centre Urban Design Framework

We have completed an Urban Design Framework for the Ocean Grove Town Centre. The UDF was adopted in June 2014.

Ocean Grove is growing. We want to make sure the future Town Centre thrives so we’ve prepared a plan to unlock its potential.

The development of the UDF has been underpinned by the input Council received from residents, businesses, community associations, sporting clubs, schools and government agencies through an Enquiry by Design (EbD) workshop. The two day workshop was held in May 2013 and the preferred future outcomes identified at the workshop have underpinned development of the UDF.

The UDF:

  • seeks to guide future growth and development, built form outcomes, streetscapes, traffic and pedestrian movements, car parking and land use as well as providing a framework for Council investment in the centre over the next 10 years
  • provides a vision for how the Town Centre should develop, provides design principles and recommends improvements to existing infrastructure and functionality of the town. The UDF will also assist in the assessment of future development proposals.

Planning controls to implement the findings of the UDF were approved by the Minister for Planning in December 2016 through amendment C346.

We are working with Department of Transport and Planning on the 'squaring up' of the Hodgson Street and The Parade intersection.
