Local Weather Data

Weather influences our day-to-day lives and can have a big impact on our health and wellbeing.

Heat and humidity affect our outdoor activities, our commute to school or work and can be detrimental to vulnerable populations and threatened wildlife.

The climate in Greater Geelong is changing. The effects of climate change, local geography, population growth and rapid urbanisation will see temperatures continue to rise.

The City is working to improve our understanding of local weather and environmental changes through the collection of microclimate data. Weather sensors have been positioned in locations across the municipality to collect temperature and humidity levels at the hyper-local level.

This new data will help to monitor changes in real-time and lead to better understanding and action across sectors. The data is open and accessible via the Geelong Data Exchange.
