Smart City

A Smart City purposefully utilises technology and data to improve the lives of citizens.

We do this by understanding the challenges and opportunities within our City and by working with our partners, local businesses, all tiers of government, the education sector and our community.

An integral component of the Smart City is public engagement and insight. This will help determine what a Smart City means for Geelong.

Smart City and the Digital Geelong Strategy

The Digital Geelong Strategy was commissioned in 2015 in anticipation of new and emerging digital technologies and to ensure Council, the community and businesses were broadband ready and digitally enabled.

Much work has occurred over the last four years to fulfil the recommendations and the Smart City Office will continue to build on these achievements.

The pace of digital development means lots has changed since this strategy was developed.

The Smart City Office is dedicated to understanding and responding to the current challenges and opportunities.
