The intersection of Central Blvd, Carter Road and Eaglebay Road, Armstrong Creek is about to undergo an upgrade with raised pedestrian crossings being added to each leg of the roundabout.
The City of Greater Geelong successfully secured a grant from the Victorian Government, in partnership with the Transport Accident Commission for this intersection.
The grant aims to make pedestrians safer at key locations and along routes with high pedestrian numbers and a high-risk of pedestrian crashes, including routes to schools.
Traffic controllers, temporary traffic signals and detours will be in place during the project.
Where possible, we encourage users to avoid the intersection during the works and take the appropriate detour routes, however the intersection will remain open, but delays are expected.
Important information for residents and those accessing the area
- The project will be completed in two stages.
- The works are expected to last for 20 working days (four weeks), dependent on weather conditions.
- Rubbish collection days will be unaffected by the project.
- Some residential streets will experience additional traffic volumes during the works as they form part of the detour.
- School buses are not impacted, schedules will remain the same.
Detour routes - Stage 1
Commencing Tuesday 22 October 2024 – Working on Central Boulevard and Carter Road
Residents who live south of Central Blvd:
We encourage you to continue travelling along Barwon Heads Road and enter the estate via Long Reach Rd and onto Carter Rd from there, follow the detour signage.
To access the schools along Carter Road or Batten Rd, the most efficient way will be to utilise Southwinds Rd and Chelsea Drive as your detour.
