Barwon Heads Road, Belmont / Marshall - Roadworks

Major Road Projects Victoria is upgrading Barwon Heads Road to make your journey safer and more predictable.

As our population grows, roads across the region are being upgraded to better connect our communities and ensure residents can travel safely.

Works have started on the duplication of Barwon Heads Road, between Settlement Road and Reserve Road.  Major Road Projects Victoria are delivering this project on behalf of the Victorian State Government.

The works will include:

  • duplicating 4kms of Barwon Heads Road between Settlement Road and Reserve Road
  • building a bridge over the railway line at Marshall, removing the level crossing
  • upgrading intersections at Settlement Road and Breakwater Road
  • installing new traffic lights at Crows Road, Barwarre Road, Marshalltown Road and Reserve Road
  • building 4kms of new shared walking and cycling path and dedicated on road cycling lanes
  • installing new street lighting, road signage, drainage and landscaping.

Lower speed limits and delays are expected whilst construction is underway.

A safe cycle route has been put in place using Francis Street, Surf Coast Highway and Warralily Boulevard.  Cyclists are advised to use this route to avoid the Barwon Heads Road construction site.
