Recycle your mobile phone

On average Australians replace their mobile phones every 18-24 months.

It's estimated there are over 22 million unwanted mobiles in homes around Australia.

Over 90 per cent of the materials in mobile phones, batteries and chargers can be recycled.

MobileMuster provides a free mobile phone recycling program that accepts all brands and types of mobile phones, plus their batteries, chargers and accessories.

It is the mobile phone industry's way of ensuring old mobile phone products don't end up in landfill - but instead are recycled in a safe, secure and ethical way.

In 2017 the program collected and recycled 79 tonnes of mobile phone components including over one million handsets and batteries. Since 1998 over 1,323 tonnes of mobile phone components have been collected and recycled.

Everything collected by MobileMuster is recycled and nothing is sold for reuse. The mobile phones and accessories we receive are dismantled in Australia initially before being recycled for resource recovery in Australia and Singapore.

Through the programs recycling effort over 99% of the materials in a mobile phone are recovered.

If your mobile phone is broken and you can't remove your data you can still safely and securely recycle it. MobileMuster ensures that any data left of your mobile phone is destroyed during the recycling process so you can feel confident no one can ever access your information in the future.
