Resource Recovery Centres - remain open for essential disposals

The City’s Resource Recovery Centres in Drysdale and Geelong provide important recycling and waste resource recovery services where residents can safely recycle or dispose their waste and
remain open during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) emergency.

However, the Victorian Government’s Stage 3 restrictions specify that there are only four essential reasons to leave home – shopping, accessing medical help or caring for others, exercise and work or education.

You should only access resource recovery centres for essential disposals such as something that is affecting the health or safety of your household or employees and requires quick disposal.

For the health and safety of all visitors, physical distancing of at least 1.5 metres between you and other people must be adhered to.

As an alternative to attending a resource recovery centre, you can arrange to have your bulky household items picked up from your property by accessing the City’s hard rubbish collection service which aims to collect items that are not accepted in or do not fit into the three-bin kerbside collection service.

The hard rubbish collection service is free to book with costs covered by municipal waste charges. Find booking information here.
