You may be eligible to apply for a retrospective pensioner rates rebate claim at your property.
Applications need to be made at any of our Customer Service Centres by 30 June to get the rebate for that financial/rating year ending.
Pensioner rates rebates are funded by the State Government; approval for claims made after 30 June each year may not be approved.
However, if you became eligible for a pensioner rates rebate but did not claim, it is possible to apply for consideration. You may apply for a maximum of four years prior to the current rating year.
Reasons considered when processing a retrospective claim include:
local Council error (Council must provide description of error)
death of spouse, failure to transfer concession to surviving spouse
serious illness (written information to be supplied).
Any other documentation you can include to support your claim is encouraged as it will be of assistance in the decision process.
Your claim will be sent to Department of Families, Fairness and Housing for processing and you will be advised of the outcome in due course.
