Wadawurrung Country, 181 Ryrie Street, Geelong
Commissioned for the 2022 Geelong Women's Street Art Commission project
The enigmatic yet serene expression of the character and the composition of the design make the viewer ask if the character is emerging from the natural background or if she is sinking into it.
The answer is both. The artwork depicts symbolically our connection to Nature: the roots we emerged from and the world we are still part of, sometimes forgetfully.
The artwork aims to remind us that we are interwoven within a complex and fragile world.
French Parisian born artist Lucy Lucy immigrated to Australia in 2006. She has been painting murals and exhibiting worldwide in collaboration with city councils, community organisations and corporate clients such as Nike, Marriott and New Balance.
Lucy’s paintings capture the evolving folklore of the feminine, exploring the energy through portraits of women symbolising social change, resilience, and reconciliation.
Her symbolic imagery is an invitation to navigate the inner and collective landscapes of the women psyche.
