Geelong Illustrators at its core is about artists celebrating their passion for creating for the happiness it brings us. Supporting local artists to explore and refine their creative practice while feeling uplifted no matter what level they are at.
This piece is a continuation of previous collages by varying members of Geelong Illustrators, where guidelines are chosen as a group either in form of a theme or colour palette for artists to explore.
Whether exhibitions, or murals, our group projects are always an explosion of colour and variety of styles that sets us apart. The collaborative nature of our projects encapsulates the human desire for connection; you bring out your best self when you are helping and supporting others.
Each participating artist was invited to submit imagery that brings them joy, through mindful artistic expression. Artists have created pieces that they say demonstrates the magic, passion and creativity they feel as female artists.
Subject matter included in the mural is designed to inspire positivity through bright colour and whimsical imagery. We hope this to have a flow on effect, experiencing wonder leads to following your heart; becoming more grateful and living a meaningful life, full of creative expression.
Colour palette is inspired by a retro summer to give it a timeless feel. The restricted palette of 9 colours allows cohesion between the different styles and subject matter delivered by each artist, as well as evoking a playful feel.
Many of our artists create as a means of therapeutic art practices, drawing for mindful and meditative purpose. They wish to instil a feeling of delight and playfulness to the viewer, making them feel warmth in the same way the art was able to bring happiness and contentment to the artist as they created it.
