On Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 April, former Bellarine
Secondary College student and founder of the contemporary dance company Collision
Dance, Stacey Carmichael, has a full circle moment when she returns to the
Potato Shed with a/lone.
Direct from the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Stacey has
written this dynamic original production, incorporating physical theatre,
contemporary dance and verbatim theatre.
Inspired by the profound experience of disconnection shared
by so many in our community, a/lone delves into the depths of
loneliness, to uncover the transformative power of embracing solitude.
Expect a compelling exploration of the human condition,
interwoven with both humour and pathos.
In the experience of profound disconnection, when there are
no more floors to crash through, the only way out is in.
The performance is accompanied by an evocative live original
score by Kirstin Honey and features performances by Xavier McGettigan, Stacey
Carmichael and Emily Jacker-Lawrence.

It was wonderful to see the Potato Shed hosting productions from
homegrown talent.
The Potato Shed has a long
tradition of nurturing young talent, and a/lone is a prime example.
We recognise the value and the importance of performing arts
and supporting our creative community at every stage of their journey.
a/lone is directed by Janine McKenzie.
“They forge a profound
connection with the audience that touches the core of one’s being.”– Lucas
Loppolo, Independent Reviewer
“a/lone is realised with
warmth and generosity, as it considers whether a greater engagement with the
self might be a worthwhile and effective means of combatting loneliness,
asking: if you are attending to and investing in your own company, are you ever
really alone?” – Josephine Balfour-Oatts, The Scotsman
