Heritage Advisory Service

If your property has a heritage overlay and you want to make changes, you can take advantage of our heritage advisory service.

We provide this service, free of charge, to help you with heritage permit applications. It is particularly useful if you want to get free practical advice on things like restoring or adding to heritage buildings, constructing new buildings in heritage areas, or putting up a new front fence.

To get advice on your proposed conservation work or changes, book a pre-application meeting with our heritage advisor and a town planner before you lodge your permit application.

Heritage Advisor

We employ a qualified conservation consultant/practitioner to help owners of heritage properties with responsible conservation. This is a free service.

It is a good idea to consult with our heritage advisor and a town planner before you lodge a planning permit application, as this is likely to make the application process smoother and faster.

View our Heritage and Design Guidelines.

You can make an appointment to meet with a planning officer and the heritage advisor to get free heritage and planning advice.
