The centre of the suburb contains the shopping centre, a community centre, a reserve and the Whittington Primary School. Whittington is also across the road from top educational facilities - the East Geelong primary school, the James Harrison College and the Gordon Institute of TAFE.
The original town centre in Wilsons Road contains the St Albans homestead built in 1873 by the great horse trainer, James Wilson, and the St Albans Uniting Church, originally a Methodist church built in 1869.
A large part of Whittington was laid out in cul de sacs and courts to inhibit traffic and to help create numerous neighbourhood reserves. Whittington boasts excellent access to the city, large shopping centres and the Bellarine Peninsula.
