Change your pet registration details

If circumstances change you are able to change any of the details regarding your pet registration/s.

Your dog or cat must be registered with us to request changes.

There are two ways to update your pet's details online: either with or without the information from your pet registration renewal notice.

Option 1: you have your renewal notice handy

We will ask you to provide some information from your notice so that we may verify ownership.

Once verified, you will be able to make changes to the details for your pet.

Note: When you provide us with an email address for the first time, you will be provided with an option to set up a myGeelong account. Future changes can then be made easily within your myGeelong account.

Option 2: no renewal notice

If you don't have your renewal notice handy, or you have misplaced it, you can still change your pet's details online using this form:

Alternatively, you may prefer to visit one of our Customer Service Centres or contact our Customer Service Team by phone with your account details to be changed.

Details you can change

If your pet is currently registered in the City of Greater Geelong and you are moving to a new address within our municipality, you will need to tell us:

  • if your pet has passed away:
    • which pet
    • the date your pet passed away
  • if your pet has moved address:
    • which pet
    • where did you live previously
    • should the pet registration go to the new address
    • what is the new address
  • any other comments
  • your name
  • your contact email or phone
  • your location/address - you may prefer to select the address by dragging the map marker

Don't forget to also update your details with the microchipping agency Central Animal Records.

Moving away from the City of Greater Geelong

If you are moving to another municipality and your pet is currently registered with City of Greater Geelong, most municipalities will transfer your pet registration without requiring you to go through the new registration process.

We suggest that you check with your new Council about their animal registration requirements.

Moving into the City of Greater Geelong

If you are moving into the City of Greater Geelong and your dog or cat is currently registered with another municipality you can transfer that registration free of charge by attending one of Council's Customer Service Centre.

Please bring along proof of current registration.
