Hamlyn Park
Recreation Reserve is a local reserve located at 34-70 Calvert Street, Hamlyn Heights that services the Hamlyn
Heights and surrounding communities
with a catchment that extends into Manifold
Heights, Herne Hill, North Geelong and
Bell Park.
This master plan was completed in 2010. The plan considered strategic research, demographic trends and the needs of the user groups and the local community.
The City is currently renewing the Hamlyn Park Reserve Master Plan.
Vision
The Hamlyn Park Recreation Reserve Master Plan was undertaken to guide the development of Hamlyn Park Recreation Reserve establishing a long-term vision for the reserve based on the needs of the local community, sporting clubs and other users.
The aim of the plan was to be practical and achievable in providing strategic direction on the development of sporting and recreation facilities and landscape design improvements.
Plan Objectives
In order to achieve this vision, a number of important objectives were considered in the plan.
Key objectives proposed include:
- to develop a Master Plan that is realistic and achievable
- that the Master Plan connects with and incorporates Western Heights College
- that walking and cycling access is provided between Hamlyn Park Recreation Reserve and the education facilities
- that safety and security is taken into consideration in the planning process
- that the Master Plan seeks to improve access to facilities
- that the views of the user groups and the community are taken into consideration in the development of the Master Plan.
