The
City of Greater Geelong is
inviting community feedback on the proposed sale of
part of the land at 125–135 Weddell Road, North Geelong, the site of the former
Geelong Saleyards.
The
Saleyards, which closed in 2017, have been the subject of long-term planning,
with the Geelong Saleyards Precinct Plan adopted in 2020 to guide future
development of the area.
Mayor
Stretch Kontelj OAM
This
is a key opportunity to transform a dormant site into a vibrant, livable
precinct that meets the needs of our growing community.
We
want to hear feedback from residents, businesses and stakeholders about the
proposed sale of this important site.
The
land is earmarked for higher-density housing, quality public spaces, community
facilities, and limited commercial uses, in line with the adopted precinct
plan.
Deakin
Ward Councillor Andrew Katos
This
is a major site in North Geelong with the potential to deliver real benefits
for the community.
We’re
committed to a transparent process and want to ensure the community’s voice is
heard before any decisions are made.
Community
members can view details of the proposal and make a submission by visiting yoursay.geelongaustralia.com.au.
Submissions are open from Thursday 12 June to 5pm Sunday 13 July 2025.
At
this stage, the City is not accepting purchase or development offers. If the
sale proceeds, the land will be offered for sale through a public process.
