We’ve
extended the community consultation period for the Geelong Youth Survey until
11.59pm Sunday 18 May to allow for more young people to tell us what they value
and the challenges they face.
The
online survey only takes five minutes and will identify key themes around young
people’s wellbeing, education, employment, leisure, and safety.
So
far, we’ve had more than 2,000 contributions via our online survey or at drop-in
sessions with our youth staff.
Young
people can chat directly with our Youth team at:
- The
fOrT, Corio – Monday to Friday from 4-6pm
- The
Nest Central Youth Hub – Monday to Friday from 3.30-6pm
- Armstrong
Creek East Community Centre Youth Drop In – Wednesdays 3.30-6pm
The
survey is open to young people aged 12-25, parents, carers, those who work at
education or tertiary institutions, and interested community members.
By
sharing their ideas and insights, young people can go into the draw to win a
Nintendo Switch, Kindle, iPad, wireless headphones, a portable Bluetooth
speaker or one of five $100 Westfield vouchers.
Greater
Geelong Mayor Stretch Kontelj OAM
There is still time to have your say
and enter the competition.
A
big thank you to the community members who have taken the time to contribute to
our Geelong Youth Survey.
The
more responses we receive, either online or in person, the clearer the picture
we will have about the experience of growing up in Geelong.
This
will mean we can better tailor programs, events, and opportunities young people
would like to see from Council.
Ayush
Singh, Junior Mayor of the Youth Council
It's awesome to see people
my own age be able to participate in advancing Greater Geelong to help the
youth more effectively, as well as potentially earn some great prizes at the
same time!
The Youth Council is looking forward to using the information
collected from the surveys to better support the young community.
