Community conversations build greater connections

Tuesday, 6 May 2025

Community members can rub shoulders with their councillors and have their say on the projects that matter to them in a free barbeque coming up later this month.

Council is inviting the public to come and have a chat in its Community Conversations at The Nest Youth Hub next Wednesday, 14 May.

The informal session offers a chance for councillors and the community to come together to discuss key issues in a relaxed, supportive environment.

The event will feature colouring activities for children, food and a barbeque – dependent on the weather.

Greater Geelong Youth Councillors will also attend to learn from their councillor mentors and engage in meaningful conversations with residents and ratepayers.

Those attending will have a chance to have their say on the following Council strategies which are now open for public engagement:

  • Proposed 2025-26 to 2028-29 Budget and Revenue & Rating Plan
  • Draft Community Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2025-29
  • 2025 Geelong Youth Survey
  • Integrated Transport Strategy
  • Central Geelong Stormwater Management Strategy
  • Highton Stormwater Management Strategy

As a Council we are always striving to make Greater Geelong a better place to live, work and play for everyone who calls our wonderful region home.

We’re always searching for new ways to improve the infrastructure and services we provide, and community feedback plays a crucial role in this.

This session offers a valuable opportunity for open dialogue between council and the community, where people can raise concerns directly with their ward councillor in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Come and chat to your councillors about what matters to you and help shape the future of our community.

The Community Conversations session will take place from 4.30pm to 6.30pm at The Nest Youth Hub, located at 17 Gheringhap Street, Geelong.
