Seven City
of Greater Geelong playgrounds have re-opened in time for Christmas following
recent renewal works.
A further
two playgrounds are having the finishing touches added and will also open very
soon.
The works
have been funded via the City’s annual Playground Renewals Program budget.
Playgrounds
at
Ceres Recreation Reserve in Ceres,
Detroit Reserve in Corio,
Janet Reserve
in Newcomb,
Lancaster Reserve in Newcomb,
Talona Reserve in Corio,
Waurn Ponds
Tennis Recreation Reserve in Waurn Ponds, and
Empress Playground in Ocean
Grove, are all open to the community, with Empress Playground also now home to
an additional swing and monkey bars.
Sundial
Reserve in Clifton Springs and
Richmond Oval in Geelong are close to being
finished and will be ready for use through the summer holiday period.
City of
Greater Geelong Mayor Stretch Kontelj OAM:
There
aren’t too many things that bring greater joy than seeing young children
enjoying themselves on a playground.
These
renewal works, completed ahead of the festive break, mean families can relax
and enjoy these spaces in the knowledge they are safe and compliant for
children to use.
