The City of Greater Geelong will temporarily close the Barwon Valley Fun Park and Rippleside Outdoor Fitness Station for the renewal of outdoor exercise equipment.
Commencing on 15 April, temporary fencing will be erected at both locations to facilitate the removal of old equipment, with works expected to be completed by mid-May 2024, weather permitting.
The renewal process aims to enhance the community spaces in response to valuable feedback gathered through community engagement.
The fitness equipment will be renewed in line with community consultation feedback and the surface will remain as rubber.
The City of Greater Geelong acknowledges and thanks the community for their patience and understanding during these necessary temporary closures.
Mayor Trent Sullivan
Barwon Valley Fun Park and Rippleside Outdoor Fitness Station are two regularly visited and highly valued play and exercise spaces.
The community consultation process provided us with an opportunity to evaluate the community's requests and we thank those that participated and shared their thoughts on the proposed plans.
Deputy Mayor Anthony Aitken
The renewal of these fitness stations is a crucial step in meeting the recreational and fitness needs of families in the community.
We aim to provide easily accessible stations with quality equipment that adheres to high safety standards.
