Mayor Trent Sullivan:
Recognising
the need for greater equity and inclusion during the holidays, the City of
Greater Geelong is proud to provide a total pool of $36,000, offering
individual grants of up to $4,000 per application, which are exclusively
extended to the 14 Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) recognised
Neighbourhood Houses that operate in the City of Greater Geelong.
We
believe in empowering communities to create their own festive traditions, and
these initiatives align with our commitment to ensuring that no one is left
behind during the holiday season.
Deputy
Mayor Anthony Aitken:
Through
the Christmas in the Community Grants, we aim to create opportunities for
everyone to enjoy the festivities and foster a sense of belonging.
The
City of Greater Geelong extends its gratitude to the Neighbourhood Houses for
their invaluable work in building resilient and connected communities.
Geelong
Giving Tree Appeal
This
year, we are again proudly supporting the Geelong Giving Tree Appeal.
For
those who can, we encourage you to support those in need in our community.
The
rising cost of living has impacted many people and families in our community
who are facing challenging times, finding stable accommodation, employment and
paying bills. For many, that means surviving week to week on limited funds.
By
donating what you can to the appeal, you’ll be sharing the joy of Christmas.
Meli,
in partnership with The Sexual Assault and Family Violence Centre, are running
the 22nd Geelong Giving Tree Appeal to support the many local families and
individuals who need a helping hand.
Donations
can be made between 11 November and 9 December 2023 - visit the Geelong Giving Tree Appeal website.
Last
year, the Geelong Giving Tree Appeal converted the funds raised by the appeal
into e-gift cards and helped support over 3,200 families and individuals across
Greater Geelong to enjoy Christmas Day.
