Greater Geelong Deputy Mayor Trent Sullivan
Our calendar of major
events in 2022 is full of highlights but this is a huge coup. As the only regional city
in the country to host T20 Men’s World Cup matches, Geelong is cementing its
reputation as a destination for premier sporting and cultural events.
Hosting two countries for
a total of six games will bring thousands of visitors to the region for a
celebration of cricket, culture and community. We are honoured to host Sri
Lanka and Namibia and to showcase Geelong on the global stage.
ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 Australia Local Organising Committee CEO
Michelle Enright
By having matches spread
across the nation in seven host cities and making tickets accessibly priced, we
are hoping as many people as possible will be able to experience the incredible
atmosphere that international fans bring to global sporting events, as well as
the unique, fast-paced and unpredictable nature of T20 cricket. World Cups are about
bringing people from all backgrounds and cultures together and we hope to
safely host over 800,000 fans at Australia’s iconic cricket venues later this
year.
Kardinia Park Stadium Trust CEO Gerard Griffin
Kardinia Park has a proud
history of cricket and we look forward to welcoming the ICC Men's T20 World Cup
in 2022, alongside passionate fans cheering on their country.
