It is well known that workplace flexibility and inclusion is a critical part of being an employer of choice. That’s why the City has long promoted flexibility and moved to a workplace model that combines office-based work and off-site arrangements for our employees. Flexibility policies improve effective delivery of services and help to attract and retain talent. It is a workplace model that provides the best support for our employees’ health and wellbeing, and is fully backed by employee representatives.
Our workplace locations stretch far and wide across Greater Geelong, helping our employees deliver almost 130 different services to our diverse community. From Anakie to Point Wilson, and Breamlea to St Leonards, we are responsible for a sprawling municipality covering almost 1250 square kilometres.
The City will continue to have a strong presence in central Geelong. Our major investment in Wurriki Nyal (our new Civic Precinct) demonstrates our commitment to playing a long-term and major role in the future of central Geelong. Construction of the $220 million precinct - funded by the City and Quintessential Equity – is delivering a huge boost to the local economy and driving wider investor confidence in central Geelong. Providing leading flexible working arrangements was a key goal of Wurruki Nyal from its inception and it is incorporated into the design, alongside the efficiencies from consolidating several locations into one site. The Civic Precinct will only enhance the City’s standing an employer of choice in our region.
