There is an exciting mix of free and paid events that will capture the imagination and interests of everyone in our region – locals and visitors alike.
On offer are our annual favourites – including:
- two Big Bash cricket matches
- A Day on the Green concert
- the Festival of Sails
- Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race
- Geelong-Korea in the Australian Baseball League
- movies at Steampacket Gardens and
- the sound and light shows for our floating Christmas tree
to name a few.
In other exciting news, the Great Australian Beer Festival has jumped into January and a new location at Johnstone Park.
For those looking for some culture, try Twelfth Night performed in the Geelong Botanic Gardens, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at the National Wool Museum or grab a show at the Wonderland Spiegeltent in Barwon Heads.
For families, explore the new Christmas Festival of Lights at Adventure Park, Australia Day at Rippleside Park or ride on the Santa Train on the Bellarine.
Geelong is also playing host to the Nacra 17 World Championships, where some of the world’s best sailors will demonstrate their on-water skills while chasing a berth at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
There is so much to see, do and experience to make the most of this bumper summer event season.
