Date set for mayoral election

The Greater Geelong council has called a special meeting on Tuesday 15 October 2019 to conduct a mayoral election.

Under the City of Greater Geelong Act 1993, a mayoral election must be held every two years.

The mayor and deputy mayor elected during the special meeting will serve through to the next council elections on 24 October 2020.

Both positions will be elected in the open chamber by a vote of councillors.

All councillors are eligible to be nominated for both roles.
