Proposal to upgrade mobile infrastructure in Lara

Notification of proposal to upgrade an existing mobile phone base station (telecommunications facility) at M0294 Lara Township: 4 Mill Rd, Lara 3212 (RFNSA 3212001)

Optus is proposing to upgrade an existing mobile network facility (base station) at the above listed address.

The proposal includes

  • the installation of three (3) panel antennas, each less than 2.8m in length, on the existing tower; 
  • the installation of ancillary equipment associated with operation and safety of the facility, including remote radio units to improve the facility's performance; and
  • the removal of redundant equipment, and reconfiguration of existing equipment on the facility and in the existing equipment shelter.

Optus considers that this proposed facility does not require council approval because it is a low impact facility or complies with relevant State planning legislation. Please refer to the attached table for further information about the low impact classification.

Optus is required to undertake public notification in accordance with section 7 of the C564:2018 Mobile Phone Base Station Deployment Code. An advertisement has been scheduled to be published in the Herald Sun on Thursday 13 June 2019.
