Moorabool Street Bike connection plans

We issued a statement in response to an inquiry from the Geelong Advertiser regarding the Moorabool Street Bike Connection

Director City Services Guy Wilson-Browne:

Moorabool Street was selected as a strategic cycling corridor as part of a state-wide process due to it meeting key criteria including safety, connection to destinations and consistency with transport planning.
Alternative routes were not supported by the TAC or VicRoads.
We have been working with the Moorabool Street traders, including face-to-face discussions, to help address their concerns.
A key concern raised by traders was the removal of car parks, which are predominantly all-day spaces, on the western (Kardinia Park) side of the road.
We are working to offset this by creating other all-day spaces within close proximity of Moorabool Street.
We have confirmed plans to create 31 other all-day spaces by reconfiguring parking on nearby streets. We are also investigating other options.
