Disability Permit Parking

We issued a media statement responding to an inquiry about disability parking spaces.

Guy Wilson-Browne - Director City Services:

There are approximately 100 on-street disability car parking spaces in central Geelong. Most of these spaces are time limited in order to encourage turnover for local businesses. Disability Parking Permits allow the holder to park without fee in these spaces for the signed time.

Disabled Parking Permits also allow for twice the signed time in regular parking bays. The initial parking fee would have to be paid but that payment would cover twice the length of time than it would for a non-permit holder when the disabled parking permit is displayed.

Options for all day disability parking include disability parking bays in Westfield, Busport and Market Square where disability car park permit holders can park for as long as they pay for.

The Access Map Central Geelong and Waterfront outlines accessible parking, gradients, seating, telephones, local landmarks and accessible travel routes in Central Geelong and the Geelong Waterfront. The Access Map can be viewed online at www.geelongaustralia.com.au/maps/cbdaccess.aspx
