Update on Johnstone Park Raingarden

Thursday, 10 August 2017

The excavated section will soon be poured with concrete to form the 350,000 litre underground stormwater tank which will hold the harvested water filtered from the raingarden.

Upcoming works to connect stormwater pipes is scheduled for late August. These works require occupation of the footpath at the intersection of Gheringhap, Malop and Mercer Streets.

Access to the footpath will be restricted for approximately two weeks and pedestrians will be diverted through the park via Princes Walk or for wheelchair access, via Fenwick Street and Lt Malop Street.

Ongoing works include: tiered garden beds with bluestone finish; disability access ramp; stair access to the base of the park; and all weather path surfacing and lighting.

The raingarden is due for completion by November 2017, weather permitting.
