Kicking goals at North Geelong Soccer Club

Monday, 7 August 2017

North Geelong Warriors Football (soccer) Club is kicking goals thanks to more than $500,000 of upgrades at their home ground at Elcho Park, Lara.

The project means the Warriors can continue competing in the National Premier League competition – the only team in our region to compete at this level.

A clubroom revamp included new change facilities for players and referees, a designated first aid area and new public toilets.

The Warriors have six junior boys teams, two senior men’s teams and a women’s team.

The new facilities were funded by the City ($133,000), and the Victorian Government ($150,000), working alongside the Warriors who contributed more than $400,000 of in-kind support and managed construction of the project.

Quotes attributed to City of Greater Geelong acting Director Community Life Fiona Reidy:

“The Warriors have worked extremely hard on this project and they should be commended for their efforts.”

“The new facilities enable the Warriors to continue competing in the National Premier League, which is critical for the long-term success and popularity of soccer in Greater Geelong.”

“The Warriors provide a key developmental pathway for aspiring soccer players in our region.”
