The Geelong Major Events Committee (GME) is seeking applications to fill three external committee member positions for a term commencing June 2022 and expiring May 2026.
Established in 1998, Geelong Major Events (GME)
is a Delegated Committee of the City of Greater Geelong which has been created
to support the attraction, assistance and funding of major events.
The GME committee includes
external committee members to harness the skills, experience and networks of
people ‘outside Council’. GME’s role is
to attract and support Signature, Hallmark and Major events that will have a
positive economic and social impact for Geelong.
Applications are sought from
interested people with experience relevant to the events, arts, sports or business
sectors. GME External Committee positions are voluntary.
All GME Committee positions are voluntary.
The following information is provided to applicants to enable a better understanding of the role of the Geelong Major Events Committee:
Conflict of Interest requirements in the Local Government Act 2020 apply to GME external committee members. Conflict of interest laws are prescribed under the Local Government Act 2020 (the Act) and in the Local Government (Governance and Integrity) Regulations 2020 (the Regulations). Managing conflicts of interest is about ensuring the integrity and transparency of decision-making. Further information will be provided regarding these requirements to those applicants progressing to an interview.
