Mosquitoes - has mosquito treatment started?

We routinely monitor breeding sites for mosquito activity. When larvae are detected, ground based and aerial treatments may occur in these areas.

Our approval under the EPBC Act 1999 from the Commonwealth government allows for aerial treatment of mosquito larvae to occur in RAMSAR protected wetlands around Geelong between 15 August and 15 March each year.

This approval protects birds that migrate to the wetlands during the winter months and is why we are unable to do helicopter treatment during winter months.

There are limitations to the program so it is important that you protect yourself from mosquitoes.
