Leisurelink Pool Configuration Update

From Monday 30 September 2019 to Wednesday 25 March 2020, our main pool will be available in a 50 metre configuration between the following times:

  • Monday 7:30pm to Tuesday 8:00am
  • Wednesday 7:30pm to Thursday 8:00am

This change is consistent with our operations in 2018 and is not a permanent year-round change.

Why the change?

The Kardinia Outdoor Pool will be opening up for the season, which will lessen the demand during some of our peak times.

How does it help cater for demand?

Having 16 x 25 metre lanes to program (opposed to 8 x 50 metre lanes) provides greater flexibility for Leisurelink.

It will ensure we maximise participation by providing seven lanes for lap swimming of varying grades, allowing people to self-select slow, medium and fast lanes; supports junior swimmers by providing greater access for swimming club use and still maintain the popular walking lane.

Why does a swimming club get 8 lanes?

All of these users (including club swimmers) are either members, visit card holders or pay casual pool entry upon each visit. Clubs also pay additional lane hire fees to secure these lanes.

When can I swim in a 50 metre pool?

Lap swimming in the 50 metre pool will still be available Monday and Wednesday night from 7:30pm to 8:45pm between Monday 26 April and Wednesday 25 September 2019.

From Thursday 26 September, the 50 metre pool will be available Tuesday and Thursday 6:00am to 8:00am.
