Accepted hard waste items

We will accept a wide range of items in the book-in hard waste collection service.

Hard Waste means household items no longer required including:

  • freezers (doors on or removed), refrigerators (doors on or removed), stoves, washing machines, dryers, air-conditioners and dishwashers
  • Mattresses and mattress-style bed bases (limit of two per collection - please don't pile waste on the mattress as they will be picked up separately and potentially on a different day)
  • intact or broken household furniture, couches, appliances, toys
  • small amounts of timber not longer than 1.5 metres (bundled and tied up to 10 pieces of timber)
  • empty and dry paint tins with lids removed
  • pottery, ceramics and chinaware
  • power tools
  • oil column heaters
  • glass (excluding glass bottles, jars and other containers which the City has identified as being suitable for collection through the kerbside recycling collection service) including intact mirrors, windscreens, panels and sheets safely covered, wrapped, tied and labelled
  • e-waste
  • old sporting goods and playground equipment
  • clothing, carpets, rugs and mats
  • lawn mowers (defueled)
  • hot water units, bath tubs
  • small metal car parts weighing less than 20 kilograms
  • scrap metal (less than 1.5 metres in length) and other waste metal products
  • metal tanks and drums with a diameter of 40 centimetres or less
  • roofing iron and guttering (less than 1.5 metres in length) and
  • any other items of hard waste composed mainly of recyclable metal.
