There’s
still time to apply for $24,000 in Positive Ageing Grants to host local dances,
concerts, arts and crafts, digital learning, workshops, sporting activities and
cultural experiences for over 55s.
Closing
on Monday 26 May at 5pm, not-for-profit or charitable organisations, community
groups and learning institutions can apply for City of Greater Geelong grants
of up to $1,000.
Community-hosted
activities and experiences must promote and support healthy ageing for people
aged 55+, strengthen social connections, encourage physical activity or
celebrate achievements.
To
discuss your project or ask for help with the application process, contact our
Grants team at [email protected] or call 5272 5560.

Grants are often the difference between
activities getting off the ground or staying on the shelf.
I
encourage organisations and community groups to consider applying for a
Positive Ageing Grant from Council to host an engaging and unique event.
With
older people making up about 30 per cent of the Geelong region’s population,
it’s becoming more and more important to help people aged 55+ connect, learn,
stay informed and keep active.
Councillor Rowan Story AM, RFD
Council is proud
to continue support for the region’s ageing population through this valuable
grant stream.
Organisations
and community groups can propose a diverse range of activities and events in
their grant applications.
Examples
of events that might spark interest and drive positive social and health
outcomes include exercise classes, digital learning lessons, gardening
workshops, swing dancing or a concert.
