The
City of Greater Geelong is calling on individuals and community groups to
submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) to license part of the Geelong Botanic
Gardens for community-focused activities that align with the Gardens’ mission
and values.
Located
at the corner of Eastern Park Circuit and Podbury Drive, East Geelong, the site
offers approximately 11 acres of serene, heritage-listed gardens.
Twelve
individual sites, each up to 600m², have been identified as potential spaces
for community use under a 12-month licence agreement.
The
City is seeking proposals that will:
- Support and enhance the vision of the Geelong Botanic
Gardens;
- Deliver well-utilised, inclusive activities for the
local community;
- Respect the amenity of nearby residents, existing user
groups, and the environment;
- Build a positive relationship between the City,
licensees, and the community;
- Encourage broader engagement with the Gardens’ natural
and cultural heritage.
Greater
Geelong Mayor Stretch Kontelj OAM
This is a unique opportunity
to activate the Gardens in a way that benefits the whole community.
We’re
looking for creative, respectful uses of this beautiful space that will draw
people in and deepen their connection with the Gardens.
This
is about enhancing community wellbeing while protecting the integrity of one of
our city’s most treasured green spaces.
Councillor
Trent Sullivan, Chair of the City Services, Capital Works, Parks &
Gardens portfolio
Whether
it’s educational workshops, wellness activities, or cultural programs, we want
to hear ideas that reflect the diversity and creativity of our community.
This
is a chance to bring new life to the Gardens while honouring its heritage and
environmental significance.
Expressions of Interest open Monday 2 June and close at 5:00pm on Tuesday 1 July
2025. Applicants must be aged 18 and over.
Community
members are also invited to provide feedback on the City’s intention to enter
into licence agreements with successful applicants.
