The Northern and Western Geelong Growth Areas is the largest urban growth project in regional Victoria and will welcome more than 110,000 new Geelong residents.

The project is a key element of the City’s plan to address Geelong’s long-term population growth needs as part of a clever and creative future.

The project has delivered the Northern and Western Geelong Growth Areas Framework Plan to guide the future land use and development of two large growth areas located in Greater Geelong’s north and west.

The framework plan outlines major land use and development requirements to deliver sustainable new communities that coordinate and sequence essential infrastructure and services.

The framework plan has been adopted into the Greater Geelong planning scheme through Amendment C395. The amendment has been approved and was gazetted on 6 May 2021.

The project will inform the preparation of precinct structure plans (PSPs) that will facilitate the urban development of Geelong’s new neighbourhoods. The first two PSPs that will be developed are the Elcho Road East and Creamery Road precincts.
