We have a unique opportunity
for you to be involved in a pilot project, that will help you reduce your
electricity consumption and energy costs by controlling the electricity used by
your household appliances.
A small device will be
installed inside your home to communicate with household appliances that use
lots of energy, and schedule the use of those appliances to suit your
lifestyle. The aim is to figure out the best times to use these
appliances. Even if you have solar panels on your home, you may not be
using the solar energy effectively if your electricity consumption time doesn’t
coincide with the peak solar generation time.
Taking part in this pilot
project will help you get the best out of your electricity use and your solar
panels by controlling your household appliance electricity consumption.
The device installed in your home will match peak usage times with the peak
solar generation times as well as the times when the electricity price is
low. This will give you potential to reduce your electricity bill!
You do not need to provide any
financial contribution to participate but will need to match criteria for this
pilot as well as have an open and enthusiastic attitude.
If you are interested in
participating, please fill in a
pre-screening questionnaire.
The pilot project is run by
Deakin University with support from Itron Australia.
We acknowledge the support of
the City of Greater Geelong, the Geelong Manufacturing Council and the state
government for funding this pilot study for households in Geelong, through
Cleantech Innovations Geelong.
