1. Purpose
To provide current information, support and training to family day care contract educators and contract educator assistants.
2. Scope
FDC only
This Policy applies to family day care contract educators and contract educator assistants and family day care co-ordination unit.

5. Council Policy
- The family day care service will distribute information to family day care contract educators and educator assistants, via emails, newsletters, phone calls, text messages, during support visits and through social media.
- The family day care service will provide ongoing assistance and access to training for family day care contract educators and educator assistants.
- The family day care service will provide current information, ongoing assistance, access to and opportunities for training.
- The family day care service will support family day care contract educators with:
- Initial and ongoing training opportunities and access for family day care educators and educator assistants.
- Six specifically designed support visits to support the quality improvement plan and practices of contract educators to assist them in developing their service as part of the quality improvement process.

Procedure
Contract Educators will:
- Complete mandatory registration requirements: Current level 2 First Aid (3 years ), Anaphylaxis (3 years ) and Asthma (3 years ), CPR (12months)
- Attend a minimum of 50 percent of scheduled FDC Contract Educator Team Meetings from July - June.
- Attend Mandatory Conference annually.
- Attend a minimum of 2 training sessions (excludes mandatory registration requirements, mandatory conference day) from July - June.
- Complete online updates as required on the following
- Manual Handling
- Car and Road Safety
- Safe Food Handling and
- Child Protection.
- Attend an orientation session prior to commencing as an approved Contract Educator.
- Provide evidence that professional development has influenced practice on support visits
- Seek and attend professional development not organised by the FDC Service.
- Notify Service of non-attendance.
Failure to comply
- If mandatory registration requirement training is not completed prior to the due date, registration will be suspended until completed.
- Other training - If the requirements are not achieved from July-June, a 3 month probation period will be applied.
- It will be expected that the minimum requirement of 2 professional development sessions will be attended in this time. This probation period with be re-reviewed after the three months, with the potential of full registration being compromised.
