Martin Reid from Coulter Roache will present on the aspect
around Mental Injury – Your Rights.
Martin will be discussing how managing ill or injured
employees is one of the most challenging areas of employee relations including:
- confidential and emotionally sensitive discussions dealing
with sometimes intimate health issues relating to fitness for work;
- the intersection of various areas of law including
occupational health and safety, workers compensation, discrimination and
Fair Work Act 2009; and
balancing cost factors and business imperatives against

- What reasonable adjustments could or should be made?

- Can they terminate an employee when they have informed me of
their mental illness or injury?

Martin Reid leads the Coulter Roache Litigation &
Dispute Resolution team and is an industrial relations, safety and employment
law specialist. He regularly advises clients, including many of Geelong’s
leading private and public sector employers, in the areas of workplace
strategies for enhancing productivity and performance, disputes, award and
