Wooden Boat Festival of Geelong

The biennial Wooden Boat Festival of Geelong returns to the Labour Day weekend in March, with activities and fun for the whole family.

The event has expanded even more since it was last held, and this year as well as all the wonderful wooden boats on display at the Royal Geelong Yacht Club (including tall ships!), visitors will be able to enjoy plenty of free entertainment on the waterfront.

In 2020, the Wooden Boat Festival of Geelong will again welcome iconic tall ships to Corio Bay. The opportunities for you to get up close and experience these magnificent ships in Geelong are endless.

A range of spectacular tall ships will be on display, including the replica of Captain Cook’s ship, HM Bark Endeavour, which is doing a one-off voyage around Australia. The Australian National Maritime Museum will also be accompanying, attending the festival with their travelling road show.

The festival will also welcome Enterprize (a replica of John Pascoe Fawkner’s Schooner Enterprize – the ship that sailed from Van Diemen’s Land [Tasmania] in 1835 to what has become the City of Melbourne) and STV ‘One and All’ to Corio Bay.

You can also be involved in its Voyage from Adelaide, South Australia to the Wooden Boat Festival in Geelong, Victoria from 26 February to 5 March. The 9 day Tallship Voyage allows for a hands on sailing adventure to discover the amazing coastline off SE Australia and includes a Voyage event polo shirt with meals and accommodation provided on board.

Held from Saturday 6-9 March, the Wooden Boat Festival of Geelong is not to be missed!
The Wooden Boat Festival of Geelong is a celebration of the history, tradition and heritage of Wooden Boats of all kinds.

Held biannually at the Royal Geelong Yacht Club, it is an opportunity for our community to see some of the most historic as well modern wooden boats sailing on Corio Bay. It also has a strong multicultural theme through our local communities as well as engaging our arts and schools.

The festival has a strong focus on children’s activities as well as a great entertainment program at the Royal Geelong Yacht Club. There will be Tall Ships, Couta Boats, Classic Yachts, Rowing and Motor Boats.
