Spatial Systems Analyst

Permanent Full Time | Band 6

Our Digital Information and Technology Department manage, deliver, and support the City’s corporate information system and network and communications infrastructure.

The Analyst will provide technical support services for the ongoing development and maintenance of our spatial information system (SIS). This includes a broad range of technical duties including system design, data entry, and development of interface components. You will also ensure corporate SIS usage standards are maintained and work with staff to ensure the best use of the system.

You have high level skills in the delivery of online based SIS’s, developed through your tertiary studies in the field and/or several years in an spatial (geographic) development and design environment.   This includes excellent working knowledge of corporate spatial information technology and its application in desktop, online and mobile environments.

You have well developed analytical, investigative and problem solving skills. You adapt your communication skills to suit a broad range of audiences and can use this flexibility  to bring creative spatial solutions to users with minimal GIS knowledge.

GIS Planning Officer

Permanent Part Time | Band 5

This position works within our City Development Strategic Implementation Team and provides GIS and mapping services to Council and external stakeholders, plus planning, technical and research assistance to our Strategic Planners.

A typical day will involve preparing maps, assisting with planning scheme amendments, performing research on strategic planning issues, taking care of map sales, and preparing information for public consultation.

You have demonstrated GIS skills and experience supported by current study in, or completion of, a qualification in Town Planning, Spatial Science, Geography or related discipline.  You have advanced digital literacy across a range of platforms and the ability to rapidly acquire and retain new information. You have a naturally inquisitive nature and thrive on problem solving and analytical tasks.  You have a keen interest in strategic town planning and are willing to help out on a range of planning and mapping projects to extend your experience and assist your team.

This role is a perfect match for recent or near graduates looking to put their studies into practice, or more experienced GIS operators seeking a better work/life balance.

This is part-time position working approximately 40 hours per fortnight.
