Coordinator Parks

Permanent Full Time | Band 8 Annualised Salary

We have created a new role within our Parks Leadership Team to drive cultural change, enhance productivity, and lead continuous improvement.

The Coordinator will lead a team of 90 and a $15M budget to achieve service objectives and best practice outcomes across the City’s parks and open spaces, streetscapes, and sports grounds.

You have a demonstrated record of achievement in leading and influencing a large labour force to deliver service outcomes, and managing major works programs with a focus on quality, safety and cost.  You have an assertive and confident communication style and easily establish productive work relationships with your team and external stakeholders.

While you have excellent horticultural knowledge and skills developed through your studies and practical experience, it is your ability to inspire 100% effort from your team and develop the business to achieve its goals that will stand you apart from other candidates.

The salary for this position includes a vehicle option.

Advisor to the General Manager

Permanent Full Time | Band 8

Reporting to the General Manager Community Life, the Advisor will be the essential conduit between departmental leaders on divisional strategy, initiatives, projects and policies.

This newly created position has been designed to support and drive strategic planning, reporting and policy delivery across our Community Life Division.  You will liaise with departmental leaders on projects, communications and priorities, review and research reports and papers, and develop systems to support collaboration and communication across the division.

You have the interpersonal and project management skills to bring together people and information from multiple sources to meet a range of communication objectives.  You are known for having your finger on the pulse of simultaneous and competing priorities, and for driving projects through to completion.  Your skill set includes advanced research, policy development, and communications capabilities, with a sound understanding of government and community sector operations.

Human Resources Business Partner

Temporary Full Time | Band 7

Our team of HR Business Partners empower our people to support them perform at their best and deliver the highest level of service to the community.

You will provide specialist advice on a range of HR matters, broker HR services, and ensure the resolution of all generalist HR matters is managed in accordance with Council policy and legislation.

You have high level and significant experience working across all HR disciplines in a large, multi-function organisation.  You have several examples of where you have identified and implemented HR initiatives and solutions to help the business flourish. 

Whether applying your knowledge of recruitment, workforce planning or investigation processes, you maintain a strategic view to ensure your actions support the long term vision of the organisation.  You have an engaging and collaborative approach necessary to build influential business partnering relationships whilst also ensuring and facilitating participation at all levels of staff.

Workshop Supervisor

Permanent Full Time | Band 6

The Workshop Supervisor’s two primary functions are to lead a small team of fleet workshop employees and to implement the City’s annual heavy vehicle and plant replacement program.

We are looking for a someone with a very unique skill set.  You have a mechanical background, with experience maintaining a diverse range of vehicles, construction plant and equipment. You also have great leadership skills and previous success in supervising teams of skilled tradespeople. 

Your story doesn’t end there – you have the knowledge and skills to manage an established review program of a large fleet of heavy vehicles, plant and equipment to ensure the City has the solutions it needs to deliver a broad range of high quality and cost effective services to the community.  This means you have knowledge of a range of activities relating to fleet and plant trials, assessment, procurement, disposal and renewal, plus great administration and database management capability.

Property and Valuations Officer – Data Analysis

Permanent Full Time | Band 5

This position plays a key role in ensuring the accurate administration and maintenance of municipal property files.

You will maintain records of subdivisions, property splits, street numbers, valuations and customer details, develop reports for a wide range of analysis tasks, and help with the testing and utilisation of specialist software.

This is a true data management role, therefore you must have expert skills in system networks and databases, particularly in regard to property and customer systems. You come from an IT, property or statistical background and have general knowledge of property and rating principles and practices relating to the Local Government Act.  You always strive for 100% accuracy and have excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

Fleet Services Supervisor

Permanent Full Time | Band 5

The Fleet Services Supervisor leads a team of professional plant operators and ensures the City’s fleet of heavy plant is effectively allocated and utilised.

Responsibilities include the effective scheduling and allocation of heavy plant, engaging external contractors, advising on plant matters and issues, managing invoicing and reconciliation, and ensuring all plant is operated in accordance with OHS policies and procedures.

You are an experienced scheduler with solid experience supervising and leading others to achieve business objectives. Your strength is your evaluation and planning skills – you can combine your knowledge of civil construction activities with types of plant and equipment and the skill sets of your team to best match plant and operators to the required task. You also have good financial and administration skills to keep track of resources and costs.

Learn to Swim Officer

Permanent Part Time | Band 4

This position provides guidance and assistance to Instructors and plays a key role in ensuring the success of the Geelong’s largest Learn to Swim program.

You are a highly organised and customer focused professional who has experience in program support and good knowledge of aquatic education. You have excellent communication skills, good IT skills, and flexibility to work morning, evening and weekend shifts to meet program demands.

Cook

Permanent Part Time | Band 2

Our Cook will plan, prepare and serve a range of nutritious meals for the children at our Whittington  Early Childhood Education and Care Centre.

You are an experienced cook with food handling accreditations and good knowledge of food safety regulations and practices.  You are an excellent planner and have experience in cooking for large numbers, including groups of children.  You are energetic and creative, and enjoy sharing your passion for food with others.

This is part-time position working approximately 30 hours per fortnight.
