Senior Urban Designer

Temporary Full Time | Band 8

This recently created role will build the urban design capability within the City and deliver improved urban outcomes for our community.

As a key member of the Planning Strategy & Urban Growth Leadership Team,  you will lead the development and implementation of a range of projects ranging from strategic ‘visioning’ to detailed urban design concepts. This will include providing high quality design, project management, and professional/technical services and advice.

You have tertiary qualifications in an appropriate design discipline and several years’ experience as an Urban Designer, Architect or Landscape Architect,  designing and delivering public realm projects within or in partnership with Local Government.  This experience includes leading the development and implementation of a range of projects, including major urban renewal, master planning, and feasibility studies.

You have high level interpersonal, communication, and consultation skills, with the ability to articulate issues and influence outcomes at a senior level. Your leadership skills and collaborative approach enable you to engage staff in corporate objectives and expectations, and shape a high performing team and culture.

You have excellent IT proficiency in a range of technical software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp and ArcGIS, and advanced knowledge of relevant standards, codes and practices.

In it's initial stages, this position will support the implementation of the Central Geelong Revitalisation plan, a partnership between Council and the Victorian Government to revitalise the key area of Central Geelong.

Project Managers

Permanent and Temporary Full Time positions | Band 7

Our Capital Projects Department is seeking experienced project managers to deliver a range of assigned capital projects across the City.   Diverse in their scope, size and complexity, projects may involve streetscapes, buildings, landscapes, recreation infrastructure, ground renovations and irrigation.

These roles involve the complete project lifecycle and a major focus on stakeholder management and engagement to mitigate risks and communicate the value of projects to the community.  Project Managers are also responsible for cost monitoring, specifications, contract documentation and reporting.

You are an excellent relationship builder who can role model Council values and build strong partnerships with community and industry stakeholders.  You have significant project management experience in construction (civil or building) or recreation facilities, including projects with significant social and cultural considerations.  You have excellent judgement and decision making skills and a good understanding of the role of local government in this context.

Accounting Officer

Temporary Part Time | Band 5

Our Financial Reporting Team provide analysis, reporting and business support for the entire organisation utilising systems such as Oracle and BIS.

The Accounting Officer role is a multi-skilled position that provides accurate and timely maintenance of Council financial information, performing reconciliations, journal inputs, ledger updates, and providing valuable back up for the completion of monthly BAS statements and administration of our online purchase card system.

You have solid experience in financial management and cost analysis, and a sound understanding of financial software systems for larger organisations (eg. Oracle, Excel).  You have a strong customer focus with the ability to liaise professionally at management level. You can manage your time well and achieve your targets within set timeframes and competing deadlines.

This is temporary part-time position working approximately 40 hours per fortnight for 2 years.

Construction Labourer

Our Construction Driver/Labourers work in teams to deliver a broad range of road, drainage and civil construction projects. You will perform manual tasks, operate a range of plant and equipment, work safely, and interact with the public.

You have a Heavy Truck Licence and great skills in road and drainage construction projects. You have demonstrated skills in safe work practices and the ability to safely perform manual work, including lifting weights.  You are an enthusiastic and positive team member, who can role model and promote our values and communicate with the community in a professional manner.

Senior Administration Officer

Permanent Full Time | Band 5

The Revitalising Central Geelong Partnership  is a joint initiative of the City of Greater Geelong and the Victorian Government to build a more vibrant city centre and prosperous local economy.

This position will deliver professional administration support to the Partnership team, and executive support to the Geelong Authority. Responsibilities include preparing agendas, taking minutes, financial administration tasks, preparing correspondence, and attending to public enquiries.

You have solid administration and financial experience, with advanced competency in the Oracle system and MS Office. You are energetic and enthusiastic,  enabling you to operate in a busy office environment and support multiple professionals with competing priorities. Your strengths include your attention to detail, time management skills, and client focus.  You are flexible with your time and are available to work some early mornings and evenings as required.

Team Leader Waste Collection

Permanent Full Time | Band 3

The Team Leader directs the work of a 2-person Waste Collection Truck to provide a professional public place litter and commercial waste collection service to the City. This position ensures schedules and community expectations are met and that the service runs safely and efficiently.

Your friendly nature and ‘people first’ focus make you a great representative for the City, and your communication skills enable you to interact positively with the public.  You have experience in waste collection and good knowledge of local geography. You have the ability to accurately record information and the flexibility to adapt your work schedule at short notice. A current HR licence is also required.

This position involves early morning shifts (4:30am – 1:30pm) and regular weekend and public holiday work.
